The 35U began with a vision to inspire the leaders of tomorrow by telling them about the leaders of today. With millions of people involved in government, education, business and community service across the country, it sometimes may be hard for the 35U to connect to leaders individually simply due to an age barrier. The 35U to us is any young adult from the ages of 18-35 in this country. These individuals have a voice – they can vote, serve, and most importantly, they can make a difference for future generations.

Why did you choose this career path?

I wanted to be a voice for those that couldn’t speak for themselves. I knew journalism was going to give me a platform and knew that I had a huge responsibility to use it wisely.

Who inspired you to get involved?

I’ve always been inspired by storytellers but I would say that my parents are a huge driving force behind everything I do. They encouraged me every step of my journey!

How do you define a leader?

A leader is someone who leads with emotional intelligence. It’s someone that is selfless but at the same time is able to calculate what should be done for the greater good. A leader leads by example!

What projects are you currently involved with in the community that engages the next generation of leaders ?

I am proud to say that I launched my motivational online series, Morning Coffee. It touches on the everyday struggles and how to overcome them with grace. I also speak at universities as a motivational speaker and happy to say that I’m growing my brand, With Guts and Grace. I will be launching e-courses on branding, public speaking, tv hosting and media coaching very soon. I’ve also partnered with a digital company, Tech Nerds which bridges the gap between technology and entrepreneurs. I want to empower people to launch their business and show them that it’s not as difficult as they may think.

What advice would you give to the next generation of leaders who want to get involved?

To follow their dreams aggressively! There’s opportunity now more than ever before to get the dream job or launch a business.
